About Andy

AndyCallowAndy Callow. Learning Disability Nurse, (RNMH, Dip N, BSc Hons, PGCert in LD, PGCert in Managing Health Services).

Andy has worked with people with a learning disability and/or autism for over 30 years. Initially as a care assistant & staff nurse, Andy brings a wide range of skills and experience all the way through to managing large national services. He has a person centred approach to enabling people to live as happily and independently as possible.

He has extensive experience in leading resettlement projects for people who live in long- stay hospitals and has personally led teams that have enabled up to numerous people to live in their own homes, playing a very hands-on role to ensure this was successful.

Driven by inclusivity and social and community development, Andy has been integral developing services from start up, achieving significant growth and then been key to the sale and transition of the businesses. These have been in a wide variety of settings including the NHS, social services and third sector and charitable organisations both in the UK and abroad.

Andy has worked for many years with people with distressed behaviours, working individually and with teams to enable the individual to live an empowered and happy life. He works on a one-to-one basis and with large teams for this service user group with an ethos of respect and a communication-led approach to behaviour.
